You can't create yourself; you already are yourself.
I return to this sentence often, because so much of modern life suggests the opposite. We are encouraged to improve, optimise, correct and reinvent ourselves, usually according to expectations we absorbed long ago and rarely questioned.
Spirituality is not immune to this. It can easily become another project: a superior identity to reach, a new version of ourselves to build.
That is not what I offer. Tantra, as I understand it, is not about becoming somebody new. It is about reconnecting with who we already are, and allowing ourselves to experience that person without constantly measuring them against who we think we should become.
This is a quieter idea than transformation, and in some ways a more radical one. It asks us to stop searching for long enough to notice what is already here: the breath, the body, the feeling of being alive.
The experience doesn't end. At the end, it really begins. The real practice is how we choose to live afterwards, with a little more awareness of the self we never needed to create.
